The Chianti area and its green, gentle hills covered with miles and miles of vineyards and olive groves, the ancient walled villages and the Castles and fortresses will make you go back in time and have a taste of its glorious present and past.
Our itinerary for Chianti tour
Day 1: Arrival Greve. Sleep Greve
Your first night in your departure point...have a nice evening stroll in the surrounding neighborhood and feel the animated, yet peaceful ambient of the Tuscan cities. Restaurants and trattoria are quietly fulfilled with locals and tourists, a charming, multicultural blend of people looking for the same, a taste of the superb local cuisine and the peace and magic of a place full of history... Afterwards, relax in your charming room, have a nice hot shower and a good night's rest before your tour starts...
Day 2. Greve to Panzano ( stop montefioralle ). Sleep Panzano
From Greve, you will have a nice walk to Panzano between vineyards and beautiful landscape. Stop at Montefioralle, one of the most ancient villages of Chianti, still today enclosed within the original walls. Its cool passageways and overarching houses provide one of the best surviving examples of mediaeval rural village architecture in Tuscany. There is a nice trattoria for lunch. After Montefioralle, a descent hike straight to Panzano, an attractive town located on a high ridge on the scenic Via Chiantigiana, exactly halfway between Florence to Siena. The Castle and churches are worth visiting, have a rest and a good dinner in one of the several finerestaurants of the town.
Day 3. Panzano to Radda ( stop Volpaia ). Sleep Radda
In today's hike, you will be walking through some of the most important and renowed vineyards of the Chianti area. The smell of grapes and wine will be your companion throughout the day. Stop at Volpaia, a fully restored medival village with an impressive amount of culture and history, that is also home to some of the most impressive wine cellars in the region. Afterwards, you will continue towards Radda, situated on a hill covered with woods and extensive vineyards forming the watershed between the Pesa and Arbia valleys. Palazzo della Podestà and Chiesa di San Niccolò are some of the buildings that are worth visiting in Radda.
Day 4. Radda to Castellina. Sleep Castellina
In this hike, The views from many points will be spectacular, a journey for real nature lovers. You will end up in Castellina, a tiny hilltop town. Here you can admire the Rocca Comunale, a 15C Fortress, and the Church of San Salvatore. Along Via Ferruccio, you will find Palazzo Ugolini and Palazzo Biancardi as well as a number of shops with local products and some good restaurants where to have your last nice dinner of your walking tour of Chianti.
Day 5 - Departure

Q. How can I make a reservation and when should I book?

Our tours depart any day from March 15th to Oct 31st. We recommend to book in advance, however, reservations must be made at least 3 days before departure date.
Q. Can I pay when I get to Italy, direct to your company representative ?
A. No, the total expense of the Tour must be paid at the moment of the reservation.

Q. How many people will I be travelling with?.
A.Our walking tours are designed for a minimum of 2 people and multiples of 2 travelling.
It will be your personal Tour and therefore you will be on your own

A. Yes, we are happy to accept groups on our tours. Discounts are available, check out the prices table or email for more information.
Q. Where does the "Walking the Chianti region Tour" depart from?
A. The Tour is scheduled to depart from Greve in Chianti and arrive to Castellina in Chianti. In the event that you need to invert arrival/departure points, that will be possible. No extra costs will be involved.
Q. How do I get to the Tour departure point and leave from the arrival point ? Do you pick up from airports, train stations or hotels ?
A. You should get to the departure point and leave from the arrival point by yourself, ***link***, however, if you need a transfer, please email us to get our prices.
Q. How much luggage can we bring on the tours ?
A. Your luggage will be transfered from one hotel to another, it is allowed one full-sized suitcase per person, extra pieces will have extra charges.
Q. Can we leave our extra luggage with you?
A. Yes, we have a secure deposit for our clients to leave their extra luggage, please email us to get our prices.
Q. Will I be able to buy food along the route in the "Walking the Chianti region Tour" ?
A. You will be able to buy food in your Day 3 at Volpaia.In Days 2 and 4 - you'll need to carry it with you.
We recommend to carry always food as you might find food shops closed by the time you get to the places.
Q. Will it be easy for me to get an evening meal?
A. Your accommodation will be within easy walking distance of a Trattoria or Restaurant so you’ll be able to taste the renowed wines and delicious tuscan cuisine.
Q. What should we wear?
For most of the time, you will be walking amidst nature, we recommend you bring suitable clothing and footwear (flat shoes) for your tour, including waterproof clothing when touring during spring and autumn.
